BLUESTONE (Blue/Gray Color Range)

A local favorite, Bluestone is quarried in New York and Pennsylvania. It is a strong and hardy stone well suited to our weather. Blue-gray bluestone has variations of color within each stone, owing to mineral content and the depth from which it was quarried. These variations give depth and texture to areas where they are used. Homeowners should be aware that Bluestone absorbs heat, and can feel hot underfoot around a pool in summer. It may also be prone to some staining and “spalling” where layers are shed due to temperature swings of our climate.
